The byname Hermit Futon (Hamish Fulton) was produced by an overzealous spell check; the bynames Doubtful Garden (Douglas Gordon) and Iron Humility Finally (Ian Hamilton Finlay) were invented.

You are invited to contribute to an archive of ‘bynames’ for writers and artists. These may be invented using new technology, chance methods or through the application of natural genius. You may send as many contributions as you wish.
