SOME OLD CHESTNUTS
David Connearn (2002)
‘Could God imagine a weight so heavy that it couldn’t
be lifted?'
You are invited to contribute to a book and archive, Some Old Chestnuts,
a collection of those perennial questions that are easy to recognise but
notoriously difficult to resolve.
Whether they refer to problematic situations or light-hearted jokes, Old
Chestnuts often resemble traps or puzzles - they unsettle our purposes
and challenge our representations of the world. While some Old Chestnuts
have been cracked and some left behind, other still exercise and amuse
us.
Your Old Chestnuts will be collected in a thematic archive and a selection
published in the Web-Book edited by David Connearn, due to appear in Summer
2006.
