Renga
Days
Alec Finlay (2000)
Renga is linked-verse. Since 2000 Alec has been running the renga-platform
project www.renga-platform.co.uk,
which invites people to take part in renga days. A renga is a collaborative
poetic form that anyone can take part in. At a renga day people compose
a poem together, with the help of a master poet. Two collections of renga
have been published, Verse Chain: Sharing Haiku and Renga,
and Shared Verse: Renga Days.
Most of the renga are written in a short form of twenty verses, called
a nijuuin renga. Alec has also organised hyakuin renga
of one hundred verse, which were written by a group of poets working over
twenty four hours.
